The band might be named after the Greek God of requited love, but Anteros wear their independence with pride. Turning a streetwise attitude into the dance along of dreams, the outfit make no compromise on their perspectives, and the result is as contagious as it is captivating. With as much conviction in their cause as their capabilities, Anteros are igniting a spark in sparked out situations, and they’re doing so with an energy that’s proving impossible to ignore.
Self-titled single ‘Anteros’ lingers on transience with no shortage of motion, resounding percussion and echoing choruses already signalling the band out for bigger and bolder things.
‘Tell Me Over Breakfast’ is a challenge against anyone who complains – or even simply talks – too much, drowning out any unwanted conversation with a bounding enthusiasm for it’s own piece of mind.
‘The Beat’ takes a few steps further down the line of a dysfunctional relationship, acting as a post break up anthem of the most unshakable kind. Inviting one and all to dance off whatever blues happen to be plaguing them, the track is the prospect of freedom at its most addictive.
With each of the EP’s five tracks clocking in at a little over three minutes, Anteros have already perfected their polished pop formula. It’s hook laden brilliance, purpose crafted with magnetism in mind. They might be singing about falling out of love for now, but with this release they seem certain to steal more than a few hearts for their own. Jessica Goodman
