More than worth the wait.

Four years since their second album ‘Static’ – which followed a fairly banging self-titled debut back in 2011 – and Cults have finally returned. It’s an effort that’s more than worth the wait, and sees them push themselves to new, bigger levels, something that can be heard throughout ‘Offering’.
Symbolising their growth from young adults who were thrust into the limelight, to, in a way, veterans; the synths are more darling, the beats more pulsating and the vocals as soothing. They’ve managed to evolve from the innocent sound of ‘Cults’ to introduce a welcome urgency.
There are new layers to get lost in, bringing to life a world that Cults have managed to forge from their retro sounds: from the eighties vibe of ‘Right Words’ all the way through to the crescendo-building finale that is ‘Gilded Lily’.
Let’s hope it’s not another four years till the next round. Steven Loftin
