Hot Chip – A Bath Full of Ecstasy

Nothing short of an absolute delight.
Label: Domino
Released: 21st June 2019
Rating: ★★★

The new Hot Chip record, ‘A Bath Full of Ecstasy’ is nothing short of an absolute delight. The long-time indie favourites have come out with a record showcasing their penchant for wonderful moments and massive bangers; it’s also their first album with an outside producer which really has contributed to the wonderful sounds contained within the album’s 48 minute runtime.

‘Melody of Love’ is the perfect introduction to the record with its dance vibes, once the beat hits and with the vocal samples it’s just wonderful whereas single ‘Hungry Child’ with its toe-tappingly catchy beat is sure to be worming its way round many an ear this year. The album’s finest point comes with ‘Why Does My Mind?’ with its almost ethereal vibe and Alexis Taylor’s dreamy vocals combining in one of the album’s most heartfelt moments.

There’s no filler on the album either and whilst songs such as ‘Echo’ and ‘No God’ may not immediately come to mind as standout tracks, nonetheless they contribute to what is an album ready made for a summer full of cans, fields, and overpriced festival food.
