When Johnny Lloyd, Hugo White (The Maccabees) and Mike Crossey (Wolf Alice, The 1975) are all involved in something, what you end up with is one hell of an EP.
‘Running Wild’ has an indie-pop that fully embraces the life-affirming lyrics that match the title, while ‘Kanaval’ brings a groove that will get your feet moving and a chorus that could quite easily be a sing-along staple to boot.
Keeping up the consistent quality, ‘Traffic’ takes things down a notch, a bit more focused and serious, taking the life and love ideas of the previous tracks and putting them inside a repetitive canvas that’s only broken by the choruses shrill musical addition. Closer ‘Eden’ strips everything away and leaves just Johnny and an acoustic guitar to convey a yearning for his perfect someone; his Eden.
An EP to savour, hopefully Johnny’s full-length shows more of the same enticement. Steven Loftin
