Mysie – Undertones EP

'Undertones' does a marvellous job of capturing the precise and intentional stylings of Mysie's inimitable sound.

Label: 70Hz
Released: 21st May 2021

Though still a fresh face in music, rising singer-songwriter Mysie has already garnered an abundance of praise for her very own brand of intimate indie soul. On her second EP ‘Undertones’, she explores her relationship with love itself. From the excitement of new love to the hollow disappointment of being cheated on, Mysie leaves no stone unturned, no path untrodden.

Letting her creative vision roam freely, the EP is a collection of atmospheric highs driven by an introspective stream-of-consciousness lyricism. It’s this intoxicating blend of the carefree with the vulnerable, that gives Mysie her distinctive edge. While sunny rhythms and bright grooves invite to dance and sway, her rich, earthy vocals are a grounding force that keeps you firmly anchored to the present. Take the contrast between melancholy ridden ‘Keep Up With Your Heart’ and the alluring ‘Over Time’, for example – one living in a hazy world muted by reverb, the other carried by a swirling parade of joy; both innately captivating.

Though short and sweet, ‘Undertones’ does a marvellous job of capturing the precise and intentional stylings of Mysie’s inimitable sound. Debut EP ‘Chapter 11’ put Mysie on the map as an artist with a vision, ‘Undertones’ showcases her sonic evolution. With her unbound creative potential and meticulously crafted soundscapes, Mysie is only getting started.
