Twin Peaks – Lookout Low

An accomplished collection from a band who sound like they’re having fun.
Label: Communion
Released: 13th September 2019
Rating: ★★★★

Twin Peaks are a band who still hold dear the distinct charms of classic rock and deft songwriting delivered with flair, panache and commitment. All values that they showcase on their satisfying fourth album, ‘Lookout Low’.

There’s a degree of familiarity to everything here and the joyous, horn assisted bar room jam of ‘Laid In Gold’ as well as the burnished soul of ‘Under A Smile’ are redolent of a rock and soul golden age.

Twin Peaks have grown into the position where they feel eminently comfortable as a band and as songwriters to indulge in all her musical passions and here they get to imbue their songs with stirring horn arrangements, affecting piano and some gorgeous harmonies. It all adds up to an accomplished collection from a band who audibly sound like they’re having fun and revelling in the joy of the music they’re creating.
