Maia, born on July 9, 2000, is an American singer-songwriter and YouTuber known professionally as mxmtoon. Her music features emotionally transparent, confessional lyrics and often uses the ukulele. She released her first EP, Plum Blossom, in 2018, followed by her debut album, The Masquerade, in 2019. In 2020, she released two EPs, Dawn and Dusk, and her second studio album, Rising, in 2022. Her third studio album, Liminal Space, was released in 2024. Maia began self-releasing songs in 2017 before her online presence grew significantly. In addition to her music career, she is a Twitch streamer, has created a podcast, and published two graphic novels. She also provided the singing voice for protagonist Alex Chen in the video game Life Is Strange: True Colors. Maia has collaborated with artists including Carly Rae Jepsen, Cavetown, and Chloe Moriondo. She resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
