The year’s very nearly done, but there are still a few releases getting in before we all clock off the hype train for two weeks with no new music at all apart from that one annoying act that decides Christmas Day is a great time for a new drop. One of the year’s late contenders is ‘Be Mine’, the new EP from producer François. Three tracks of smooth alt-R&B, it’s a personal record full of reminiscing and personal moments. Give it a listen below, and find out more about it from François himself.
Young N Dumb
‘Young N Dumb’ is about reminiscing about an old love that didn’t quite work out. It’s not about dwelling but more about acceptance that you were young and whilst it was fun it wasn’t right at the time”.
Be Mine
I wrote ‘Be Mine’ after feeling inspired during a writing session in London. The lyrics for me were reflecting on talking to someone for a while and trying to push it to another level, but it was just not getting there. This song was one of those songs that just fell together. It was written and recorded within an hour.
One Dance
I wrote ‘One Dance’ with my mind set on memories. It reflects on time going fast and one dance being a softer way of saying one life. My late grandfather shot the video in the 1970s that I used to accompany the track. I hope with this song that people can have their own take on it, whether it being romantically or just memories with friends and families. It’s all about living to the full.
