Track by Track: Nijuu – nijuu in the sea EP

  • Dork
  • June 25, 2020

Korean dream-pop artist Nijuu has today released her debut EP, ‘nijuu in the sea’. The laidback seven-track collection sees Nijuu heading off on a journey of self-discovery via blissful waves of chilled-out pop.

““The sea” that I sing of here is not a real space,” she explains. “The far away sound and illusive ocean world was the clearest and most free world to me. Ironically like you can’t stay in your mother’s womb, we have to go out into the world.

“I made this EP with the desire to leave the world where I could understand and live alone, now step forward to live a life and make a relationship with people. I want to send these songs to people who are like me, people who are struggling with lots of different things, people who are anxious, people who are shy, people who need encouragement, people who need friends, people who love people.”

Check out the EP below in full below, along with a track by track guide from Nijuu, and some behind-the-scenes snaps. The release arrives alongside an animated video for previous single ‘BLUE’, conceptualised by artist Cecilia Reeve, too.

BLUE
Introduction of my world – duplicity of the sea, it is my world and consolation at the same time, it is my comfort zone, boundary and limitation. This is my story, but I believe it’s yours as well.

Deep Down

I thought all the grown-ups have a hurt child in their deep down. But it is okay to be not okay. Admit just the way you are is the first step to getting healed.

i wanna be strong

This is frankly honest about myself. When I was questioning myself – who I really want to be and what I really want to be – the answer was I want to be stronger than before. I want to love myself and be myself.

회전문 Revolving Door
Revolving door, I could be turning round and round forever if I don’t step outside. So I realised no one is going to open my door for me or help me to get out to the world. I have to do it myself. And it was a pleasure to be realised.

Sand Castle

Duplicities of relationships and time. It is fragile, but I think it is still worth it even though it’s not going to be forever. Try to remember now because once it goes never comes again.

DON’T YOU WORRY ABOUT

Don’t you worry about anything.

IF

It is a blessing to still be alive when we’re young. Everything is for you. The water of the sea, the soil of the land, the glass of rain, all the pain and joy. Everything is for you. I love you from the bottom of my heart!
