It’s fair to say Yard Act have had quite the 2022 so far.
Locked into a perhaps unlikely chart battle, they may have scored a famed Indie Band Number One (or, as most people call it, a Number Two in the Official UK Albums Chart after giving a scare to a much bigger pop peer), but that isn’t the end of the madness surrounding the Leeds gang of late. Their live shows, fast gaining a reputation for their brilliance, are selling out at pace. That includes last night’s London show at Village Underground. If you got in, you did well. We managed to squeeze intrepid snapper Patrick Gunning through the door to catch both the headliners and their support – Baba Ali. Signing to James and Ryan of Yard Act’s label Zen FC, they’ve just dropped a Really Very Good double A-side single, ‘Living It Up’ / ‘Black + Blue’, themselves.
