Kimberley Ann Deal, born June 10, 1961, is an American musician known for her roles in alternative rock bands. She was the bassist and co-vocalist for the Pixies from 1986 to 1993 and from 2004 to 2013. She joined the Pixies in January 1986 under the stage name Mrs. John Murphy, contributing to the albums Come on Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa. After the release of Doolittle and the band's hiatus, she formed the Breeders in 1989 with Tanya Donelly, Josephine Wiggs, and Britt Walford. Following the debut album Pod, her twin sister Kelley Deal replaced Donelly in the band. The Pixies disbanded in early 1993, after which Deal focused on the Breeders, whose album Last Splash was released in 1993 and included the single "Cannonball." The band went on hiatus in 1994 when Kelley entered drug rehabilitation. During this period, Deal adopted the stage name Tammy Ampersand and formed the Amps, releasing the album Pacer in 1995.
