404 Guild have released their debut album, ‘False Dawn’.
The album is the culmination of years of work and, in the words of the group, is “a flag stuck in the ground at the end of a long dark road”.
To accompany the album, a powerful short film was created by Devenny 404 and his collaborator Ben Garcia Hughes. The first two parts of the film have already been released as the music videos for the singles ‘Feedback Loop’ and ‘The Evening Star’.
The album release also follows 404 Guild’s sold out headline show at The Social in London earlier this week.
The collective explains that the process of creating the album was a challenging one: “We had around 50 songs in various stages of completion but between them we just couldn’t find ‘the album’. So we did the only logical thing and scrapped it all. We rented a cottage in the middle of nowhere out in the sticks and gave ourselves fourteen days to write the whole thing. Somehow it worked.”
They went on to say that the secluded location had a huge impact on the record, and that the album is a representation of their shared journey through difficult times. “False Dawn is a flag stuck in the ground at the end of a long dark road. But for us, it’s only the beginning.”
