Andy Shauf has announced his new album, ‘Norm’, with the lead single, ‘Wasted On You’.
The upcoming record will be his eighth full-length, following 2021’s ‘Wilds’, and takes its title from writing sessions tailored to David Lynch’s 2001 thriller, Mulholland Drive. It will be his third release on ANTI- and is set to arrive on February 10th.
Album opener and lead single, ‘Wasted On You’ was mixed by Neal Pogue (Tyler, The Creator) and hones Shauf’s pen on a love song grappling with more probing questions than you might initially expect.
The accompanying V Haddad-directed music video features Lauren Servideo as God and Frederic Winkler as Jesus – a mischievous representation of higher power that matches the dreamy R&B tones and tender synth notes.
Promising to be more modern and melody-driven than previous efforts, with songs grounded in a more conventional structure, the Canadian songwriter’s new project sacrifices none of his established charm.
