We’re a week from a brand new Green Day single, and more details are starting to emerge.
Titled ‘Bang Bang’, the latest track from the iconic three piece is set to arrive on August 11th, as announced by frontman Billie Joe Armstrong earlier this week. Nik Rivers from New York’s 107.7FM has heard the track, though, and is more than happy to tell us a bit about it.
“So if you are a fan of the early, punky Green Day, you will LOVE the new song Bang, Bang,” he wrote. “ And when I say early, think Dookie, but not “When I come Around” Dookie, but more “Welcome To Paradise”, “Burnout” & “Chump” Dookie…With hints of Kerplunk & the rawness of 39 Smooth.”
In short, Green Day are probably trying to be Green Day from more than 20 years ago, rather than Green Day from 10 years ago. Hope that helps.
