Tor Maries AKA Billy Nomates has released the third single, ‘saboteur forcefield’, from her upcoming second album, ‘CACTI’.

It is the Bristol songwriter’s third single of 2022, following ‘blue bones (deathwish)’ and ‘balance is gone’, which will both feature on the new record too.

On ‘saboteur forcefield’, Maries has said: “I think it’s about the inevitable feeble fight against feeling and progress.”

CACTI’ is due to be released on January 13th via Invada records, and follows Maries’ 2020 self-titled debut album.

“Writing ‘CACTI’ took just over a year,” the songwriter recalls. “I wrote very intensely and then none at all. (This seems to be the way I work best). I picked up old drum machines, mapped out things in my kitchen with the same small micro keyboard I always use, and then raided the cupboards and rooms at Invada Studios, to play and experiment with old synths, an upright piano, this weird organ thing.”

“I hope everyone finds their own narrative in ‘CACTI’,” she adds. “I think it’s about surviving it all.”
