Björk has released her new single, ‘ancestress’.
In the track, she ponders mortality and the ritualistic aspects of grief. It follows recent singles ‘Atopos’ and ‘Ovule’.
It is is taken from her forthcoming album, ‘fossora’, set for release September 30th via One Little Independent Records.
‘Fossora’ follows up on 2017’s album ‘Utopia’, and includes contributions from Serpentwithfeet, backing vocals from her children Sindri and Doa, songs written for her mother, and a poem by Látra-Björg, an 18th-century fisherwoman and outcast.
The release has been accompanied by a video for the track, directed by Andrew Thomas Huang with co-creative direction by Björk with creative consultant and longtime collaborator James Merry. You can check it out below:
