BLACKPINK have made history for being the first group to garner two billion views on YouTube for their hit song ‘Ddu-Du Ddu-Du’.

YG Entertainment shared the news on their official Twitter account on Wednesday, (4th January), noting that ‘Gangnam Style’ by Psy was the only other K-pop music video to achieve this milestone.

‘Ddu-Du Ddu-Du’ was dropped in June 2018, along with the release of their first Korean EP ‘Square Up’. A Japanese version of the single was released in August 2018.

The success of ‘Ddu-Du Ddu-Du’ was accompanied by BLACKPINK’s ‘Shut Down’ music video surpassing 300 million views on YouTube on Monday (2nd January). It took the video just 109 days to hit this milestone. The same day, the choreography video for BLACKPINK member Lisa’s solo song ‘Money’ surpassed 100 million views on YouTube.

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo recently confirmed that her long-awaited debut solo album will be released this year.
