BTS and Tomorrow X Together among the 10 best-selling albums of 2022 in the US

Seven out of ten acts in the top 10 best-selling CD albums list were K-pop artists.

BTS and Tomorrow X Together (TXT) had a triumphant end to 2022, with both bands having two of the 10 best-selling albums of the year in the United States.

According to the year-end report published by music data tracking firm Luminate, BTS’ June 2022 anthology album ‘Proof’ sold an impressive 422,000 copies and came in at number three, while TXT’s mini-album ‘minisode 2: Thursday’s Child’ sold 229,000 copies and ranked in tenth place.

The report also revealed the US’s top 10 best-selling CD albums of 2022, seven of which were claimed by K-pop artists. BTS came in second place with 413,000 CDs sold, followed by TXT in third with 227,000 copies. Stray Kids were the only act to appear twice on the list, in fifth and seventh place respectively. Other K-pop acts to make the list include TWICE, NCT 127 and ENHYPEN.

The report showed that despite the prevalence of K-pop acts, Taylor Swift’s ‘Midnights’ still topped the list, with a total of 1.8million copies sold in the US last year. Other non-K-pop artists on the list include Harry Styles, Beyoncé and Fleetwood Mac.
