Orchards have announced a brand new single, set for release this March.
The two track effort, ‘Young’ / ‘Mature Me’, comes ahead of a UK tour which kicks off in Nottingham, and calls off in Manchester, Glasgow, Sheffield, Cardiff, Birmingham, Bristol and London.
The first half of the release, ‘Young’, is streaming now.
“I suppose at the heart of it, ‘Young’ is about unrequited love, but a love that you’ve learned with hindsight wasn’t right for you in the first place,” explains vocalist Lucy Evers. “It’s about wanting to go back to that initial moment and live in it. The hardest and most rewarding part to write was the spoken-word section. Poetry has always been something I adore but never thought I’d be able to combine with music, but now here it is!
“We all slowly fell in love with the song over the recording process, exploring the possibilities of it and really looking at how we could knock our songwriting and musicianship up a gear.”
