CMAT and Junior Brother are celebrating the festive season with their new tune, ‘Uncomfortable Christmas’.
“This song is written about the scene that happens every December,” says CMAT, “when you have to go back to the small village you grew up in. You find yourself surrounded by lots of people, and bumping into the reason you left – an ex, an old friend who you’ve outgrown, your family.
“It’s also about what happens afterwards – the relief of finally getting back to the city again, coupled with the feeling of knowing that you can only find peace in loneliness and isolation. Modern life baby!”
Junior Brother adds: “CMAT came to me with the idea of doing a festive duet in November, and the portion of said duet she presented revealed potential. So I threw in a few lines about turkeys dying for one’s sins and being nervous all the time – standard Christmas fare – and our sensibilities linked to create a melancholy banger for a melancholy banger of a year.”
