Community mastermind Dan Harmon has picked up the script for Bubbles – a film about Michael Jackson’s life through the eyes of his famed pet chimpanzee.
The script topped the 2015 Black List – a run down of development executives “most liked” scripts of the year that haven’t been picked up and turned into films.
Bubbles will now be made as a stop-motion animated feature, much like Anomalisa – the Oscar-nominated film Harmon executive produced.
The Black List synopsis of the film reads: “A baby chimp is adopted by the pop star Michael Jackson. Narrating his own story, Bubbles the Chimp details his life within The King of Pop’s inner circle through the scandals that later rocked Jackson’s life and eventually led to Bubbles’ release.”
