De La Soul and Snoop Dog set to appear on new Gorillaz album

We're expecting the record in 2017.
De La Soul and Snoop Dog look set to appear on the much anticipated new album from Gorillaz.

With new material from Damon Albarn’s cartoon troupe expected next year, De La Soul’s Pos explained in an interview with the Guardian that both acts have recorded for a new album.

“We’re about to be on the new Gorillaz album,” he revealed. “Snoop was also performing on the record when we were over there. He pulled us to the side and said: “Hey man, we’ve never worked together, can we get this going?” Usually the lawyers will say: “You can pay this artist or maybe we can swap?” and then it goes from there.“

He also revealed that they’d heard parts of the record: “We actually sat down with Damon two weeks ago and he played us some of the new Gorillaz album, and it sounds amazing. He played us a track that he wants us to get off on his album so we got to get in the studio and put that down.”

De La Soul have previously appeared on Gorillaz’ ‘Feel Good Inc.’ and ‘Superfast Jellyfish’.
