‘Shut Up ‘n Play Yer Guitar’. Not something you’d need to say to Dinosaur Jr’s legendarily laconic frontman J Mascis, but a series of albums by Frank Zappa consisting of just guitar solos. 106 minutes of the things.
Now, as a teaser for their upcoming ‘Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not’, out on August 5 through Jagjaguwar, Dinosaur Jr have done something similar, but (thankfully? – Ed) shorter, splicing all of the album’s solos together as ‘Solo Extractions’, which you can listen to below.
You’ll doubtless hear all of these notes, and more, when the band hit the UK in November – their tour dates are:
