Divorce have dropped a new single.
‘Birds’ arrives alongside news that the Nottingham band have also signed a new record deal with Gravity/EMI, and will be touring the UK in November following their support run with Willie J Healey.
Co-vocalist/guitarist Felix Mackenzie-Barrow says of their new music: “I was carrying a lot of insecurity that felt like it was piling in on me from all angles but this song was an attempt to reshape those feelings into something positive. I wanted to remind myself and all of us in the band how much belief we have in each other and in the truth of what we’re doing together.”
Of the video, co-vocalist/bassist Tiger Cohen-Towell adds: “We really wanted to keep this video simple. The song isn’t really about birds at all, but I feel as a metaphor they represent both chaos and hope, so having hyper-realistic bird makeup and business person suits seemed like the logical way to go. Working with Jack Jobling (videographer) was a joy, he has a real knack for understanding our warped humour without too many questions. I think we were satisfied with the very first edit he sent through. The filming was done in one day and prosthetics are pretty gruelling, Felix actually had to drive about with his on and in a bout of road rage began squawking at another driver.”
