Eli Smart’s latest, ‘Done Me’, has just dropped.

Fresh from releasing his ‘Aloha Soul’ EP last year, Hype List star Eli Smart has returned at last with a delicious new track. After what was a busy end to 2022, with Declan McKenna joining him onstage at his debut L.A. show, ‘Done Me’ sees Eli lean into his classic soulful, sunshiney sounds on a whistling track which does a stellar job at blowing away the winter blues.

On ‘Done Me’, Eli says: “I wrote and recorded ‘Done Me’ with my flatmate/drummer/producer/best mate James Kerr in our flat in Lewisham. We’ve been playing together since university up Liverpool (James’ hometown) and this was one of the first times we’d ever properly sat down to write and record a tune together. If I remember correctly we’d just come off a pretty busy touring period and were in need of some sunshine and sleep.”

“I’d been listening to a Georgie Fame tune ‘Yeh Yeh’ and I’m sure James was listening to something crazy cool as he always is, we got the feel of the tune we were making quite quickly. I whistle all the time (probably gets annoying to everyone around me) so it was a breeze to come up with a whistle melody over such a lively groove. The rest of the tune came very naturally and we just danced around my room writing words to it. It definitely gave us a version of the sunshine we were yearning for. “
