Bratty but brilliant 18th century future-popster Elle Lexxa is back with a devilish new bop, ‘Lucifer’.
Speaking about the track, Elle explains: “Why am I the way I am, asked the TikTok fam. I grew up in a Victorian house, surrounded by 19th century dolls and antiques; I fell hard for the NeoVictorian/Steampunk world in the late 2010’s, headlined by trips to see Phantom of the Opera whenever I could scrape together enough money for a ticket. ‘Lucifer’ is my shameless Phantom-Fan Fiction; a hymn to Phantom through Christine’s gaze, but the Christine I wanted her to be, a tight-laced dominatrix, aggressively in control of her sexuality.”
Love the TikTok fam. Big up to them. We mostly spent our growing up years wandering round a HMV. Not sure there’s a song in that, Dear Reader.
Certainly not one like ‘Lucifer’, which is a breathy, brassy slice of Big Pop. You can check it out below.
Hello, ‘Dear Reader’
We’d like to ask you for a small favour. We have never been read by more people (hurrah! – Ed), and yet, thanks to the way the ad-funded media market operates, we earn little (booo! – Ed). This publication costs time, money and work – and with proper foundations, we can continue to invest to make it bigger and better than ever before. If you’re able, we’d love it if you’d consider becoming a supporter today. It’ll only take a minute, and you’ll get loads of extra bits and pieces in return. If you’re unable – don’t worry; most pieces are available to read totally free of charge, and many more supporter only articles will unlock after a period of time. Thank you very much!
