First Aid Kid put the world right at Glastonbury 2017

  • Dork News Desk
  • June 23, 2017
With Glastonbury being a hive of genres, one that creeps up time and time again is country. Kris Kristofferson is mid bill today, but before he takes to the stage there’s Scandinavian duo First Aid Kit. Two of country-stroke-indie-folk’s brightest players, the sisters Söderberg are at Worthy Farm for the third time – and they seem more at home than ever.

They take us on a walk through of their back catalogue, including a brand new stomper that’ll be on their new album, recorded back in January. One of the standout moments comes from their contribution to the ‘100 Days’ project – ‘You’re The Problem Here’. The furious, fast paced rocker soars.

After finishing, singer, Johanna, gives a short speech on its origins – a rape case in Stamford Uni, where the perpetrator was given a lenient sentence as he had his whole life ahead of him and he blamed his actions on society. Rightly feeling this was unjust, the song was born. The crowd break into rapturous applause, proving that if Glastonbury had its way, the world might end up on the right path yet.

Ending with breakout songs ‘Emmylou’ and ‘My Silver Lining’, their set is one filled with celebration, determination and proof the duo are easily going to be invited back for more Worthy Farm fun.

First Aid Kit played:

Wolf

Master Pretender

Waitress Song

The Lion’s Roar

You Are the Problem Here

Ghost Town

King of the World

It’s a Shame

The Gambler (Kenny Rogers cover)

Stay Gold

Emmylou

My Silver Lining
