Foals have had a pretty monumental year. August will mark exactly 12 months since the release of latest record ‘What Went Down’ and with Reading & Leeds on the horizon, it’s quite reasonable to understand why they may take a short while off to regroup.
But that ain’t happening.
After previously saying earlier in the year that they’d be looking to take some time off after that mammoth headline moment over the August Bank Holiday, the band have now revealed they’ll actually be jumping in full steam ahead and straight back into recording their next album.
Speaking to Q Magazine, frontman Yannis said revealed that, after their last scheduled show in Hong Kong in November, they’re going to dive straight in. Talking about the upcoming process he said: “I want us to break the chains of familiarity and to have that question mark in the room again, I think that it’ll be beneficial for the band just to be nervous about being in the room together again. I think we need to rock our own boat.”
Hallelujah. Expect them to close out their UK shows swinging at Reading & Leeds too, with Yannis also saying: “Reading’s got this raw, rock, youthful first-time festival-goer type of energy, I think it’s gonna be my favourite show of the year.”
It’s definitely going to be hard for anyone to top it.
