Foo Fighters have finally put an end to speculation about who would take on the role of drummer following the passing of Taylor Hawkins in March last year.

In their livestream yesterday (21st May), Josh Freese was introduced, confirming his position as the new drummer for the band.

Freese, a longtime friend of Dave Grohl, has played with the likes of Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails, and Paramore, and has previously joined Foo Fighters on drums during Hawkins tribute concerts last year.

“Excuse me, guys – could we just, like, play a song or two … something?,” Freese said, before the band played their hit “All My Life”.

The livestream also featured the debut performances of songs from their forthcoming album, ‘But We Are Here’, as well as exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.

The band will make their live debut with Freese later this week.
