Foo Fighters’ new album ‘Concrete and Gold’ features “the biggest pop star in the world” – but they’re not saying who

  • Dork News Desk

Foo Fighters claim to have “probably the biggest pop star in the world” on their new album ‘Concrete and Gold’ – which he’s also calling “the hugest thing we’ve ever done”.

Dave Grohl has revealed the guest spot to Annie Mac in a new interview set to be broadcast in full on her BBC Radio 1 show this evening (20th June).

“We have a bunch of guests that we haven’t told anybody about,” Dave explains. “Some will really surprise you. There’s one who’s probably the biggest pop star in the world, and I’m not kidding, sings back ups on one of the heaviest songs on the record. We’re not telling anyone who it is.”

“Without telling anybody we’ve been in the studio for the last six months,” he continues, “and we made the biggest sounding Foo Fighters record we’ve ever made. I’m not just saying that, basically I said to Greg [Kurstin] – I wanna make a record that sounds like Motorhead doing Sgt Peppers, and he was like ‘Okay’. And so we recorded an 11 song record with him.

“Honestly, I think it’s going to take a lot of people by surprise. Every band says it’s the best record they’ve ever made, but wait ’til you hear it, it’s definitely the hugest thing we’ve ever done. It was so hard to keep it a secret for so long.”

“We were one block away from Queens of the Stone Age while they were making their record, so every day we would sneak over to each other’s studies and steal donuts and coffee. We were listening to each other’s records just like, you know what? Rock’n’roll is alive and well. With these two records, honestly, QOTSA and Foo Fighters should just join forces and take over the world right now.”

“The album’s called ‘Concrete and Gold’, it’s 11 songs, it was produced by Greg Kurstin. The first song is called ’T-Shirt’; you gotta be careful, when it kicks in – just don’t be driving when you hear it for the first time.”
