Fougère has released a video for ‘Movement’, filmed live at Printworks in London

It's a haunting piano composition.

London-based musician Fougére (Jamie Norton) has released a new video for his piano composition, ‘Movement’.

Out today via Studio Fougére, the emotive live performance footage was recorded at London venue Printworks with award-winning production company Pavillion (Dermot Kennedy, Sigrid).

Inspired in part by his son, Jamie explains: “Most of the pieces start out as a fragment of an idea on the piano. Sometimes I might be thinking about a very specific space/picture or emotion; about what the music might sound like there or how I can communicate a feeling.

“One of my sons loves to dance and I noticed he starting moving sometimes to this piece when walking into the room. If I played it too slow he stopped, if I played it too fast he did the same. I’ve always been interested in the idea that form should follow function and how this might be applied in music. It can help me simplify the process; did it make him want to dance? Yes or no.”
