Newcomer Frances Baker has shared a second-ever single, ‘Crazy Now’.
The Nashville songwriter-producer explains “’Crazy Now’ is a song that rather than telling a story dives into an emotion. This piece was written around the drum and piano part- and tries to play with the space the song is being “performed” in. The applause midway takes apart the linear structure of the song- mirroring the come and go nature of certain feelings.”
Frances dropped her first track, ‘Bringing Me Down’, whilst touring with Arlo Parks across the UK a few months back. Arlo called Frances “My favourite vegan legend with golden taste,” with the two connecting after Arlo heard demos of Frances’ music in other writing sessions. Both ‘Crazy Now’ and ‘Bringing Me Down’ precede a forthcoming self-titled debut EP.
“This EP was so fun to make,” Frances explains. “I learned so much and had the loveliest team working with me. All the musicians (Courtney, Kyle, Josh, and Ciaran) were so kind and encouraging; they all lived where we recorded, in the downstairs, by the kitchen,” she says of its creation. “This is the first project I have released under my name. I have never been so involved in the recording/ arranging process before, and have not gotten to make something that reflected my interests, inspirations and passions so loudly until now. I really love these songs, and am so excited to share them.”
