Gorillaz have shared a new single, ‘Baby Queen’, from their upcoming LP, ‘Cracker Island’

  • Finlay Holden
  • November 4, 2022

Gorillaz continue to unveil their eighth studio album, ‘Cracker Island’, with the new single, ‘Baby Queen’.

The LP will mark the virtual band’s eighth full-length release, following 2020’s ‘Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez’. Two singles have already been released – the title track, ‘Cracker Island (feat. Thundercat)’, and  ‘New Gold (feat. Tame Impala and Bootie Brown)’ – with the full record slated to arrive on February 24th.

‘Baby Queen’ itself was written by Damon Albarn after recalling a real-life incident when a 1997 Blur concert was attended by a Thai princess, who was seated on a throne next to the venue’s mixing board. “‘Song 2’ started and she stood on her throne and stage-dived into the crowd,” he remembers. “The reason I’ve written a song about it is because I had a dream about this princess very recently; she’d grown up and we spent time in my dream together, her as a woman.”

You can pre-order ‘Cracker Island’ here – the full tracklist reads as below:

1. Cracker Island (feat. Thundercat)
2. Oil (feat. Stevie Nicks)

8. Tormenta (feat. Bad Bunny)

The virtual band recently teamed up with spirit brand Smirnoff for a new vodka celebration – catch up here.
