Gorillaz usher in ‘Humanz’ with four new tracks, an animated film and a secret London show

Their first album in over seven years is set to land on April 28th
Making a bang has always been Gorillaz’ forte. They’ve been doing it since the very start, and now they’re kicking it well into gear with news of new album ‘Humanz’.

The heavily-rumoured and teased LP will be the “animated” band’s (aka Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s) first album in over seven years since 2010’s ‘Plastic Beach’ and ‘The Fall’. Featuring an all-star cast of collaborators including Jehnny Beth of Savages, Grace Jones, Vince Staples, Danny Brown, De La Soul, Pusha T, Benjamin Clementine, D.R.A.M and many more, ‘Humanz’ will span 14 tracks (not to count a deluxe edition that features Rag ‘n’ Bone Man and Ray BLK too) and is destined to be rammed full of experimental moments and club hooks – the perfect combination for a Gorillaz throwdown.

Coming along like buses, the seven year wait now has four new tracks on the table – with the Jehnny Beth and Noel Gallagher featuring ‘We Got The Power’, the Vince Staples featuring ‘Ascension’, the D.R.A.M featuring ‘Andromeda’ and the Popcaan featuring ‘Saturnz Barz’ all out in the world. (So to answer your question, yes, there’s a lot of features on the album).

Why just put out one eh?!? Take that Ed Sheeran with your measly two tracks…

All four tracks make an appearance in a new 360 3D (yes, that’s a thing) video for ‘Saturnz Barnz’, which can be experienced online right away. Directed by Jamie Hewlett himself, the short film follows the adventures of the 2D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel Hobbs, in a pretty trippy adventure if we say so ourselves.

Gorillaz aren’t done there either.

There’s also the small matter of a secret London show being confirmed for tomorrow night (March 24th), with ticket information available here. The band will be playing ‘Humanz’ in full for the first time there, so scrap your Friday night plans RIGHT AWAY.

Expect everything to go down a treat when they play their recently announced Demon Dayz Festival at Dreamland in Margate on June 10th.

Have a check of the full tracklisting right at the bottom, after all four tracks and the ‘Saturnz Barz’ short film (which you can check out in 360 or not – depends how your feeling on a Thursday night…)
