“My label thinks this isn’t a single” – Grimes has shared a snippet of a brand new track

It seems to be called '100 Percent Tragedy', 'FYI'.

Grimes has shared a snippet of a brand new song.

Titled ‘100 Percent Tragedy’ on TikTok, the taster comes alongside a message that explains: “My label thinks this isn’t a single what do y’all think? Imo this song shud have a music video.”

Grimes recently switched her label, moving from indie 4AD to major label Columbia. The post follows an update that described some of the detail behind her forthcoming first record since the jump – the follow up to 2020’s ‘Miss Anthropocene’.

“It’s a space opera about CLAIRE DE LUNE,” she explained, “an artificial courtesan who was implanted in a simulation that is a memory of the AI creation story on earth from the brain of the engineer who invented AI because he wants to re live his life but see if his perfect dream girl could teach him to love and thereby he would preserve humanity this time rather than let them fade into obscurity – overcome by the machines.”
