Guitarist Nick McCarthy won’t be on the next Franz Ferdinand album

He's taking some time out to be closer to his family.
Franz Ferdinand guitarist Nick McCarthy won’t take part in the recording or touring of the band’s next album, they’ve announced.

“When we record and tour, it takes a long, full-time commitment lasting a minimum of a year and a half, most of which is spent away from home,” they explain. “Nick has a young family and does not want to be away from them for such a long period.”

The band are currently working towards the follow up to 2013’s ‘Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action’, and their 2015 collaborative effort with Sparks, ‘FFS’.
