Hatchie has released a punchy and experimental new single, ‘Nosedive’

  • Finlay Holden
  • November 9, 2022

Hatchie has shared ‘Nosedive’, the first single to follow her recent second album, ‘Giving The World Away’.

It is the singer’s first release since her sophomore LP, ‘Giving The World Away’, which was released back in April – Dork’s 4-star review said the album proves, “she can now let her personality and diversity flourish”. In a recent interview feature, Hatchie told Dork: “I’ll never completely erase the anxious version of myself, but I can have that confident version of myself as well”.

The Australian singer-songwriter spills: “I wrote ‘Nosedive’ with Joe [Agius] and Jorge [Elbrecht] last year after we hit up an amazing goth megaclub in Denver on a weeknight. We were inspired to recreate the energy we felt there and experiment with a lyric-free chorus. There aren’t any other songs in our live show that are this punchy, so we wanted to write something angry and powerful.”

“It’s about realizing you don’t have control over your life despite your best efforts,” she adds. “I wanted the lyrics to sound like the devil on your shoulder convincing you to self-sabotage.”

You can listen to ‘Nosedive’ here, and watch the official music video below:

Hatchie recently completed a series of UK & EU headline shows and is currently supporting Alex G on tour across North America, with additional Austalia shows just confirmed. All information and tickets are available here.
