Husky Loops debut their new mixtape ‘Good As Gold’ – check it out in full

They've shared news of a big old UK headline tour, too.

Husky Loops have dropped their brand new mixtape ‘Good As Gold’, and it’s streaming online in full.

The ambitious release features guest spots from Vuyo, Mother MaryGold, Red Phillips, Steven Senegal, Terra, MEI and Count Counsellor, and is accompanied by news of a massive headline tour around their festival spots at Manchester’s Neighbourhood and Lincoln’s 2Q later this year.

“We’ve always been into hip-hop, and we are surrounded by so many amazing musicians, so the idea of the mixtape kinda started just by living the life we live,” Danio from the band explains.

“Except DAFT, everything was written recorded and mixed in 7 days. The quick process really inspired all the people involved to give their best. The atmosphere was, “come to the studio, let’s jam together or write a song and let’s finish it in 3 or 4 hours.” We really feel we caught the honesty and personality of everyone in that way, ours too. There wasn’t time to overthink anything, but just to do what you felt like in that moment.

“As a band, we love working with different people and expand our sound, and this is only the first of a series of projects we’d like to do.

“This mixtape is really about giving your best and being who you are, which is something we all look for. The title “Good As Gold” really matched this vision, it’s a warm colour that can both provide a bright and cheerful feeling but also a traditional one, or a religious aura. It can be tacky but also elegant. It’s an interesting concept, in a way we all look for “gold” and something “good” and that can mean something different to everyone. Love, money, power… God.”
