Strap yourselves in, Dear Reader. It’s time to start getting prepared for a new year. New possibilities, new horizons – and, oh look – new musical treats to get excited about! With our bumper end of term double issue out later today, we’re delighted to kick off the fun by announcing our annual Hype List.
A rundown of some of the new acts we’re excited about for the twelve months ahead, we’ll be revealing a new name every half hour up until 5pm GMT, introducing you to the names you need to stick in your playlists so you’re not left lagging behind come January 2022. You can keep track of it all at our special Hype List mini-site here.
First out of the hat comes the magnificent Wallice. Freshly inked with Dirty Hit – home of The 1975, Wolf Alice and Beabadoobee – it’s safe to say the alt-popster is on the right track to hit the very top.
With her new bop ‘Wisdom Tooth’ just out today (Friday, 19th November), she’s got a new EP on the way too. “The second EP is a little more mature,” she explains before quickly adding, “But it’s still filled with humour and sarcasm, which is really important.”
“People connect to my music because of the humour, and that’s something that’s really genuine. It’s not going anywhere.”
You’ll be able to read the full Hype List interview in our new issue, out later today. Dork Supporters can grab it now, though, live in their Supporters’ Area, or read it here. If you want to get access before it goes free to read for all later this year, you can sign up and support pop nonsense here. You can order the new double issue of Dork below. We’ll be revealing the full rundown of what’s in there at 5pm GMT. Check back at 9:30am GMT for the next new Hype List name!
