IDLES have announced details of their third album ‘Ultra Mono’, along with new track ‘Grounds’

The follow-up to ‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance’ lands on September 25th, following three special live streamed shows

Get that uncut lockdown hair out of your eyes because IDLES have announced bumper news of their third album ‘Ultra Mono’

Landing on September 25th, ‘Ultra Mono’ sits as the anticipated follow-up to 2018’s ‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance’ and the next step in their unstoppable rise. As described by the band, the new record sits around the phrase “momentary acceptance of the self”, and was recorded in Paris with special guests such as Jehnny Beth, Warren Ellis (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds) and Jamie Cullum featuring across the album

With this big ‘ol news, IDLES have dropped another taste of what to expect (following on from last month’s ‘Mr Motivator’), with the defiant menace of new track ‘Grounds’. Speaking about the track, frontman Joe Talbot explains: “We wanted to write a song that embodied self-belief, and gave us self-belief – a counter-punch to all the doubt we build up from all the noise we so easily let in. We wanted to make the sound of our own hearts’ marching band, armed with a jack hammer and a smile. We wanted to make the sound of our engine starting. So we did. Thank you.”

Ahead of the release of ‘Ultra Mono’, IDLES will perform three exclusive live-streamed shows (across the weekend of August 29th-30th). Tickets for the shows are on sale now, with each purchase receiving a unique code in order to access the performance, shot professionally in an ‘iconic studio’
