It sounds like IDLES are already working on album number three

Frontman Joe Talbot has revealed they already have ‘a song in the bag’ for the follow-up to ‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance’

A lot is happening in the world of IDLES. There’s still the huge acclaim pouring in for their latest album, their barn-storming appearance on Later… With Jools Holland recently and a sold-out UK tour coming up – but it looks like work on what comes next is already underway.

Speaking in a new interview with Pancakes And Whisky (what a name), frontman Joe Talbot has revealed that things are already taking shape. “We’re working on album number three” he noted “we’re working on where to move forward musically at the moment. So yeah, we’re just going to work on album three now. We’ve got a song in the bag”.

Why wait around eh?!

Elsewhere in the interview, Joe also chatted about that talked-about Jools performance, noting that “It was a dream of mine to be on that show for a long time, so, for me, it was just a feeling of gratitude. I mean, I’m grateful for a lot at the moment, to be honest. Because we’re doing what we love, we’re traveling the world, meeting lots of wonderful people, doing lots of interesting things. All of it’s a dream, but Jools Holland, with my fiancé and my father there watching was a dream of mine; a dream come true”.

‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance’ – a five star album if we do say so ourselves – was released back in August to love all over the place and a Top 5 UK chart position, and they’ll celebrate it all with an upcoming sold-out UK headline tour later this month. Calling across the country, the shows include a big ‘ol shindig at London’s Kentish Town Forum.

Check out the full lowdown with our recent chat with the band right here – and start thinking where on earth they could go next. We’re already excited. We’ve bought a balloon that’s how excited we are.
