Jamila Woods has just dropped ‘Boundaries’, her first solo single of 2022 following a string of impressive collaborations.
It follows work on ‘The Signs Reads’ with Supa Bew, and ‘Red To Violet’ with Adi Oasis. Jamila Woods also recently featured on Bonobo’s newest album, ‘Fragments’, where she was hand-picked to provide the vocals for the standout track, ‘Tides’.
‘Boundaries’ is her first solo release 2020’s ‘SULA’ and follows on from her 2019 LP, ‘LEGACY! LEGACY!’
“‘Boundaries’ is a song about the negotiation between private and shared space in a new relationship, the risk involved in letting someone get close enough to see your rough edges,” she said on the new song. “I think a lot about the Prentice Hemphill quote, ‘Boundaries are the distance at which I can love you and me simultaneously.’ The song is about learning the difference between erecting boundaries out of fear versus out of love.”
