Janelle Monáe is set to headline the West Holts Stage at Glastonbury 2019.
The news was revealed by Emily Eavis, appearing on the first edition of Laurene Laverne’s new BBC 6 Music Breakfast Show this morning (7th January), where the organiser also confirmed the line-up is “about 90% of the way there”, with “the last 10% of confirmations going on now”.
Monáe will join Pyramid Stage headliner Stormzy and Kylie Minogue – who will appear in the afternoon ‘legend’s slot’ – as the first names announced for 2019’s festival.
“We’ve got Janelle Monáe headlining the West Holts stage,” Eavis said. Talking about her last appearance, she continued: “2015 was incredible, that show was really brilliant. You could have watched it with the sound off, and it would have been incredible. It will be quite a moment.”
It’s not the only Glastonbury news Eavis let slip. Apparently Arcadia are working on a new design, Bloc 9 will be expanding with a new installation and The Park will have a new area.
Glastonbury 2019 takes place between 26th and 30th June 2019.
