Janelle Monáe has kicked off the new year with a special treat for her fans – a snippet of a new track.
The Grammy-nominated recording artist shared a video of herself in the studio over the weekend, with a caption that reads: “20twentyFREE #float”. This has led fans to believe that the new song is called “Float”.
It’s been nearly five years since Monáe’s last album, ‘Dirty Computer’, so the news of fresh music has been welcomed with open arms by her fans. Since then, Monáe has released her protest song ‘Say Her Name (Hell You Talmbout)’ featuring a star-studded lineup of Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Chlöe x Halle, Tierra Whack, Zoë Kravitz, Brittany Howard and many more. She’s also just appeared in the hit Netflix film Glass Onion.
It’s unclear when the full version of Monáe’s new track will be released, but it’s safe to say that fans can’t wait to hear what she has in store for us in 2023.
