Japanese Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner has issued an open casting call for the lead role of herself in the upcoming film adaptation of her memoir, ‘Crying in H Mart’.

Posting a request on her social media pages, she’s seeking a Korean American aged between 18 and 25 to portray her in the movie.

Directed by Will Sharpe, who starred in ‘The White Lotus’, and with Carmen Cuba – known for her work as a casting director for ‘Stranger Things’ – as the casting director, further details regarding the project have yet to be revealed.

The memoir, which is an extension of a 2018 essay that Zauner penned for The New Yorker, has garnered a lot of attention since its release and made it to No. 2 on the Hardcover Nonfiction Best Seller list by The New York Times. Additionally, Zauner was selected for Time’s 100 Most Influential People list in 2020.
