Joey Maxwell gets the last laugh with his new single, ‘like a clown’

It's about not being taken seriously.

Joey Maxwell has dropped a new single, ‘like a clown’.

His second single of late following recent drop ‘hollowing out’, he’s kicking off a new, more independent chapter.

Joey explains: “’like a clown’ is about not being taken seriously, it was written after a time where I felt like the music I was making was being satirized by the people around me. I felt like I had to play into a character and subsequently being something that I was not meant for my creative output suffered.

“’like a clown’ is about disarming those feelings by embracing being name-calling. I wrote the whole song in a couple of hours, then finished it off in NYC. The process gave me a lot of creative liberation so I feel like I got the last laugh.”
