Australian pop-rockers Lime Cordiale have released ‘Colin’, a string-backed ode to Men At Work frontman, Colin Hay.
The new track marks the Aussie outfit’s third single of 2022, following previous efforts ‘Facts of Life’ and ‘Country Club’, with the new material leading up to Lime Cordiale’s third album, more details on which are to come next year. They also dropped a six-track collaboration with Idris Elba (‘Cordi Elba’) back in January, which followed their 2020 LP, ‘14 Steps To A Better You’.
The band recently completed a massive UK tour run, and made their UK festival debut at Latitude 2022 where Dork caught up with frontmen Oli and Louis Leimbach for an interview feature, with the brothers both agreeing: “The more stupid our music is, the more fun it is”.
‘Colin’ is indebted to and features vocals from Men At Work frontman Colin Hay, who the band now consider a close personal friend, and dials back pop sensibilities for a folk-inspired ballad. It also arrives with a Jack Shepherd-directed music video.
Although the track is not actually about the man in question, Lime Cordiale have shared that, “the creation of this song started and finished with Colin. It was inspired by Colin’s solo works and ended with us recording his vocals in his own home for the final chorus. So much love was poured into this lil tear jerker!”
