Loose Articles have shared news of their ‘Kick Like A Girl’ touring project set to begin next year.
The band’s Arts Council England-funded project will run throughout the beginning of 2023 across grassroots venues in the north of England. Beyond just a run-of-the-mill tour, the ‘Kick Like A Girl’ tour will offer inclusive, intimate access and insights into the music industry.
Predominantly aimed at young women (14-25) from backgrounds and groups typically not represented in the music industry, the tour will offer the opportunity to shadow the band and crew at soundtrack, with Q&A sessions afterwards. Those who attend will have their named added to the VIP LAFC Club, which translates to a special VIP guest list for that evening’s show.
The funding for the project will also be utilised to subsidise overheads for the venues. All the venues on the tour are independent and in under-served touring territories. Ticket prices will therefore remain inexpensive and accessible.
After the tour, participants will have the opportunity to join a gig buddy scheme, attend special events and be directed towards music industry opportunities in their local area. The band will also officially launch LAFC in tandem with the project, an inclusive fan club with merch, big days out and a means of growing Loose Articles’ involvement with their fans in a completely new way.
Discussing their project, the band says: “As northern women we have so much important stuff to say and a different point of view to offer. With this tour we really want to build a community with people like us, and show young women (and men) in the north west that the music scene isn’t just for boys.”
