Lorde has hinted at the creation of new material during her Friday night set at Primavera Sound Los Angeles.

On Friday night, September 16th, Lorde used a set at Privera Sound in Los Angeles to hint at the impending arrival of new material. Inbetween songs, the 25-year-old Kiwi rested on her extravagant staging and reflected on the thematics of her previous records: ‘Pure Heroine’ was about “not being a teenager”; ‘Melodrama’ was “about a boy”; ‘Solar Power’ was “about the climate.”

“Who knows what will come next,” she teases, before confirming: “well, I know. And you’ll know sometime soon.”

You can view fan-recorded footage of the short monologue below:

Last month, Lorde distributed an email to fans which included the following: “I’ve kept working pretty much since tour ended, spending long days in a dark room, my brain buzzing like a fluorescent tube, eyes watering when I step back into the light. Girls with flushed cheeks walk through my neighbourhood on their way to dinner; parallel universe projections in pretty dresses. Sounds weird, and feels it a bit too, I suppose.”

You can read that mail in full here.

Lorde is currently busy with a slew of foreign festivals until the end of the year, before a collection of tour dates across New Zealand and Australia in March 2023.
