Clip drops ahead of North American tour featuring two orchestral shows.
Lucy Dacus has released a self-directed music video for ‘Planting Tomatoes’, following an intimate screening in New York City. The visual was filmed entirely in her hometown of Richmond, Virginia, and arrives as the latest release from her recent album ‘Forever Is A Feeling’.
Shot with returning collaborators SpangTV, creative director Jordan Rodericks and cinematographer David Muessig, the video takes in a series of Richmond landmarks including Dogwood Dell, Hollywood Cemetery and James River Park. It also features members of local youth performing arts group SPARC, Dacus' father and a number of her friends.
A special screening of the video will take place at Richmond's Byrd Theatre on 30th July, followed by a Q&A with Dacus moderated by SPARC's Paul Major. The event has already sold out, with a waitlist now open. A green 7-inch pressing of ‘Planting Tomatoes’ will also launch exclusively through Dacus' webstore.
The video arrives ahead of Dacus' North American summer tour, which begins this Friday (10th July) and includes festival appearances at Outside Lands and Bumbershoot, plus two orchestral performances with the Chicago Philharmonic and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra featuring new arrangements of songs from ‘Forever Is A Feeling’ and across her catalogue.
